Taking A Stab At Crepes!

This morning, I felt a little daring, so I decided to finally try the recipe for Crepes from Veganomicon. I’ve been wanting to make my own crepes for a while now, but was always too afraid that they’d be a complete failure. Well I proved myself wrong today! My crepes came out absolutely perfect, and I had one of the best “desserts for breakfasts” ever! I stuffed my crepe with hot bananas and almond butter, and topped it all off with warm chocolate syrup, maple syrup, and powdered sugar. I also sprinkled some slivered almonds on top.. WOW was this decadent! The almond butter and bananas were pipping hot, and the chocolate syrup made it even more unbelievably good.

I also made my mom a similar crepe for breakfast, but I stuffed hers with bananas and peanut butter instead of almond butter. With a fanned out strawberry on the side!

My grandfather’s 83rd birthday was yesterday, so today, I might be going out to dinner with him and my mom. Possibly a trip to either Gobo, Angelica Kitchen, or Candle Cafe again. If not tonight, he will be getting a special birthday dinner soon! I don’t really have much planned today, but I don’t mind considering all I’ve been doing this whole week is running around and waking up early. A girl needs her rest!

YUMMY! I’ve been wanting to take a stab at making crepes, too, so I’m glad to hear that yours came out well. :)

I’ll be first in line if you ever do open up a cafe, for sure! ;-)

    Hi Erica,

I have loved reading your posts…both breakfast’s and the more savory meals. You are so young and knowledgeable about food! I also would love to have a breakfast/dessert place in the future, especially as a chocoholic my entire life. Check out my new blog, I am new to the vegan world and am going to try it out for a while and see how it makes me feel. I also wrote about a trip to Candle with my sister…can’t wait to return in a few weeks!

    ciao.

Your breakfasts always look just as good, if not BETTER than those you’d order in a fancy restaurant. YUM.

This is totally a random, un-food related question (probably because I’m sitting at work and reading your gorgeous blog), but are you working this summer?

PS. you are a wonderful cook!
